Champions League draw

The English teams in the Champions League have been drawn in tuff groups ahead of the start of the Champions’ league group stages.

Holders, Real Madrid have been drawn in group B along with 5 time winners Liverpool, Swiss champions Basel and Bulgaria's Ludogorets Razgrad.

Premier League champions Manchester City have also been drawn in a tuff group; City will face German champions Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow and Roma.

Arsenal has been drawn against Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray and Belgium's Anderlecht.

England’s football agents have appealed against Fifa’s proposed plan to replace football agents with intermediaries who will not be required to pass ant exams or hold a license.

Liverpool sign Balotelli

Liverpool has confirmed that signing of Italy and AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli on a 3 year deal. The fee is reported to be in the region of 16 million pounds.

Balotelli spent his last 3 years in the Italian league with AC Milan, prior to his moved to Milan he played for the Premier League champions Manchester City.

Following the signing Balotelli said “I'm very happy. We've been talking about coming here and now I'm happy to be here.

United complete Rojo move

Manchester United has confirmed that signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo. The deal has seen United winger Nani go on a season long loan with the Portuguese club.

Rojo who was a key part of the Argentina squad for the World Cup 2014 in reported to cost Manchester United 16 million pounds who has signed on a 5 year deal.

Arsenal held to goalless draw

Arsenal football club were held to a goalless draw against Turkish side Besiktas in the first leg of the Champions League qualifying stages. The game was an open game and both sides had changes to win the game but neither side took their changes. In the 80th minute Arsenal and Walsh midfielder was sent off for a second bookable offence. Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic was sent to the dug out in the final minutes of the game. Following the game Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reported that he was target by fans who was throwing bottles at him.

Shaw to miss start of season

Manchester United left back Luke Shaw is due to miss the start of the season with a hamstring injury.

Shaw who signed from Southampton for 27 million is reported to be out for 1 month and will miss up to 3 Premier League games and 1 League Cup game.

An official told Manchester United’s club website “Luke Shaw has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the opening game of the season against Swansea City on Saturday.

"The England international, a summer signing from Southampton, is likely to be sidelined for around four weeks.

Rooney named United captain

Manchester United has formally announced that striker Wayne Rooney will be their new captain following the departure of form captain and vice captain Vidic and Ferdinand.

United manager Van Gaal made the announcement before Manchester United final pre season friendly against Valencia.

Van Gaal has also announced that Darren Fletcher will be vice captain.

Following the announcement Rooney told the club website “It is a huge honour for me – and for my family – to be named captain of this great club. It is a role I will perform with great pride.

City sign Mangala

Manchester City has confirmed the signing of Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala for a undisclosed fee.

Mangala is City’s 6th signing of the season following the singings of Bacary Sagna, Bruno Zuculini, Willy Caballero, Frank Lampard and Mangala's former Porto team mate Fernando.

Following his signing the 23 year old told the club website “City is a top club in Europe. For me, it was an important step to leave Porto and join Manchester City in order to continue my progress.

"I want to win titles and I believe I can do this. I am ambitious and this is why I am here.

Arsenal wins the Community shield

Current FA champions Arsenal defeated Premier League champions Manchester City in a thrilling 3.0 win at Wembley stadium.

Both side fielded a strong squad and both side gives debuts to several new signings including Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal defenders Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers. Manchester City also give debuts to goalkeeper Willy Caballero and midfielder Fernando.

Benzema signs contract extension

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has signed a contract extension at Real Madrid keeping him at the club until 2019.

Benzema’s future was in doubt after several big money signings from Real Madrid including Monaco forward James Rodriguez and Bayern Munich play maker Toni Kroos.

Bezema had been linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal and Liverpool reported to in interested in the striker.
