Spurs appoint Pochettino as head coach

Tottenham have confirmed that they have appointment former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach.

Pochettino who has signed a 5 year deal at the club is then 10th Manager at the club since 2001, before the announcement Pochettino was heavily tipped by bookmakers and pundits to succeed Tim Sherwood.

Before his recent move to Tottenham Pochettino was appointed Southampton manager following the sacking of Nigel Adkins. Pochettino took Southampton to their highest place in the Premier League (Eighth place) and also helped develop home grown players such as England due Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.

Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy said "In Mauricio I believe we have a head coach who, with his high energy, attacking football, will embrace the style of play we associate with our club.

"He has a proven ability to develop each player as an individual, whilst building great team spirit and a winning mentality.

"We have a talented squad that Mauricio is excited to be coaching next season."
