Sex, Lies and Superinjunctions!

Superinjunctions are in the news again. High profile media coverage has made the task of a certain footballer’s superinjunction to prevent a “kiss and tell” story hitting the press almost impossible. The identity of the footballer must be kept secret by way of a High Court Order but the leaks in a certain social media site means that a serious own goal may have been caused.
Whilst the UK media can be gagged quite easily with a superinjunction, it is different with media companies who are not based in the UK. The footballer has decided to go beyond the shores of the UK try to seek out the identity of a blogger who may have revealed his identity and no doubt take action.
It is an interesting development of privacy laws versus the new global phenomena of the social media that knows no boundaries and could make a mockery of the English Legal System.
