Sepp Blatter confirms that referees will use” vanishing spray” in the 2014 World Cup

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has today confirmed that referees will use a vanishing spray in the 2014 World Cup. The spray will be used once a free kick has been awarded. The referee will pace 9.15 meters before spraying the ground to determine where the wall should stand, minutes after the spray has been used the spray will vanish leaving no marks on the pitch.

The spray has been trailed at the under -20 and under -17 World Cups early this year and Sepp Blatter has confirmed that he vanishing spray is “a good idea”. In an interview on Thursday Sepp Blatter says “I think it's a very good solution, some say it takes too much time and I was also quite sceptical at the beginning but... all the referees who have used the system were pleased with it”
