RVP reveals intention to leave Arsenal
Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has revealed through his website that he will not be signing a new contract for the Gunners. The Dutch International has enjoyed an incredible season with Arsenal before having a very dissapointing Euro 2012 campaign with the Netherlands which included resulted in the side finishing at the bottom of their group.
Van Persie earlier slammed the owners lack of "ambition" despite the fact that Arsenal have signed two players since the window has opened. Robin Van Persie has proven to be another magnificent signing from Arsene Wenger, signing for only £2.75 Million, this investment has given the gunners their 8th all time top goalscorer with 134 goals. With several to remember such as his volley from the edge of the box against Charlton in the 2006-2007 season, this goal was described by manager Arsene Wenger as "Goal of a lifetime." The 2011-2012 season has proven to be his most impressive, finishing the Premier League as top goalscorer and being regarded by many as one of the best strikers in Europe.
A large amount of speculation has broken through ever since Robin Van Persie has announced his intention to leave Arsenal with rumours of Manchester City and Juventus being the two teams set to battle for the signature of the Dutch forward. Juventus reportedly had a very ambitious offer of £8 million rejected.
If Robin Van Persie was to leave the Premier league, he would no longer be the longest serving foreign player in the division.
