Round 1 World Cup predictions

With the World Cup fast approaching, the Football Agents at Football Agent and Sports Lawyers have grouped together to give their predictions on the World Cup open games.

Group A

Brazil VS Croatia

Here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we were all in agreement that we think Brazil will win the opening game. However, we could not agree on the overall score. We are sceptical on how good Brazil actually is some of the Agents think that Brazil may struggle against Croatia.

Maxico VS Cameroon

This is a tuff game to call, here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we was split to which team would emerge the victor. However, we were all in agreement that there would be goals scored. Both teams have Premier League strikers leading the line for their respective team (Hernandez of Manchester United & Eto’o of Chelsea).

Group B

Spain VS Holland

This is the game we are all most excited about here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers, both sides have bundles of talent. However, we are all in agreement that we think Spain will win. Spain who are the current World Cup and European Championship winners have a depth squad with great players in every position.

Chile VS Australia

Here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we were all in agreement to who we think will win this game. Chile have a good squad and may cause some upsets in there group. Chile who have several big names in there squad including Barcelona winger Sanchez and Juventus midfielder Vida. However, both these players will miss the first game.

Group C

Colombia VS Greece

For a while now everyone has been talking about Colombia and their chances. However, following the injury to their star striker Radamel Falcao we here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers think that Colombia will struggle to beat Greece and may even struggle to progress beyond the group stages. Greece as seen in the European Championships in 2004 are a hard side to beat. Although they do not have any star quality players they work well as a team.

Ivory Coast VS Japan

Here at Football Agents and Sports lawyers we all agree that Ivory Coast are clear favourites to win their group. Ivory Coast have some big name players including Swansea Striker Bony, Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, Liverpool defender Kolo Toure and Roma winger Gervinho. However, Ivory Coast can be venerable whilst defending and tend to lose shape. Here at Football Agent and Sports Lawyers we do not know much about Japan however we understand that they are a strong side.

Group D

England VS Italy

This game has had everyone split here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers. England who has taken an inexperienced squad to the World Cup has been written off by a lot of pundits who have said they might not get out the group stage. However, everyone at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers think that England will progress. Everyone is asking the question “can England stop Pirlo?” However, we think the question should be “Can Italy cope with the pace and energy of England”. Here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we could not reach a decision as to who will win, however as I am writing this blog here is my prediction.

Uruguay VS Costa Rica

Uruguay has been labelled the dark horse of the World Cup. Uruguay has many star players including Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and PSG striker Edinson Cavani. However, let’s not forget about Uruguay’s back 4, Uruguay’s back 4 is extremely inexperienced apart from AtleticoMadrid defender Diego Godin. We here at Football Agents and Sports lawyers think that Uruguay will struggle to keep clean sheets against the bigger sides and will have to rely on their strikers.

Group E

Switzerland VS Ecuador

This is a hard game to call. Having watched Ecuador against England, Ecuador looked a good side, especially going forward. However, you have to bear in mind that England did not play their strongest squad and that the game was very open. Defending Ecuador looked average and could have easily lost the game against England. Switzerland are a strong side with good foundations, let’s not forget that they beat Brazil last year.

France VS Honduras

We all know France have a good squad and a strong chance of doing well in the World Cup. However, here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we think their chances have been shortened due to the Injuries of Bayern Munich winger Frank Ribery and Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier. However, here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we think France will be too strong for Honduras and will beat them with ease

Group F

Is this finally Argentina’s year after 28 years? A lot of people are saying yes including some of the Agent’s here. However, as a majority decision we cannot see Argentina winning for the following reason, their defence. It’s no secret that  Argentina’s defence is pretty average and we think this may come back to bite them against the better attacking sides. However, there strike force is arguable the best in the World Cup. Messi, Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria. Bosnia-Herzegovina are not as bad as everyone thinks, most of their players play in competitive leagues including the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A and Super Lig.

Iran VS Nigeria

Here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we do not know much about both sides. However, after watching Nigeria against USA we were all left disappointed.

Group G

Germany VS Portugal

Another great game to watch, both teams have strong squads. However, we all agreed that we think Germany will win this game. Although Germany is lacking in the strikers depart, their midfielder and defence is good enough to win any game, having said that Germany does have Klose and Poldolski who are both recognised strikers at international level. A lot of people see Portugal as a “1 man team”. However, here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers think Portugal have a strong squad, Bruno Alves, Fabio Coentreo, Pepe, Joao Moutinho, Raul Meireles, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani to name a few players.

Ghana VS USA

Both of these squads are going to struggle to progress from the group stages having Germany and Portugal in there group. However, you just never know what can happen. The USA squad is very inexperienced with most of their squad playing in the MLS. However, they do have some good players who on their day can be a handful. Ghana’s World Cup squad is also not that bad. They have good players including Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, Asamoah Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng. However, there defence is average to say the least

BELGIUM v ALGERIA

Belgium are being tipped by many to win the World Cup, and for good reason. The Belgium squad is extremely experienced with many great players from many of the top European leagues. Here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we would not be surprised is Belgium go all the way in the World Cup

Russia VS South Korea

We all know Russia is a good side. However, can they cope with the weather conditions in Brazil? Here at Football Agents and Sports Lawyers we think Russia will struggle with the hot weather in Brazil. However, we still think they will be too strong for South Korea
