Ribery and Grenier ruled out of France squad

Bayern Munich Winger Frank Ribery and Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier have both been ruled out of the 2014 World Cup due to injury.

Ribery who has been undertaking an individual training program to try and overcome a back injury failed his final fitness test on Friday.

Grenier was forced to sit out of training whilst he undertook scans on his thigh injury, head coach Deschamps has confirmed that both players are certain to miss the World Cup.

Ribery and Grenier have been replaced by Montpellier's Remy Cabella and Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin.

Deschamps said in a press conference "(Ribery) stopped with a strong pain.

"He had tests early in the afternoon which unfortunately confirmed the severity of the situation, that he will be unavailable for several weeks."

He (Grenier) had a groin problem with his club but he participated in the last match,

"He came with us and participated in the training sessions and in the match against Norway. On Wednesday he trained as normal, Thursday morning as well, but on Thursday afternoon in the game, he suffered a terrible blow and felt pain in his right adductor.

"He had an MRI scan, which unfortunately again confirmed he will be incapacitated for several weeks, he will not be able to train or, evidently, to play.
