McLeish sacked by Aston Villa

Alex McLeish has been sacked by Aston Villa after just one season at the helm, the Premier League club have confirmed. He was an unpopular appointment among many Villa fans after he took neighbours Birmingham down last season and although he avoided a second successive relegation this term, it was not enough to save his job.

According to Ryan McKnight, editor of "FC Business", "Despite numerous amounts of research showing that sacking your manager is (in the long term) going to make a little or no difference to you, clubs continue to act irrationally and emotionally when making what could be argued as the most important decision a club can make."
