Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers looking to strengthen his squad with a major signing

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is hopeful of bringing in a “major signing” before the end of the January transfer window on Friday. Rodgers was speaking after Liverpool’s 4.0 win against arched rivals Everton. Rodgers said “Hopefully we can have a major signing before the window shuts and if we can do that we will be set up for the remaining games”. A major signing would boost Liverpool’s Champions League ambitions and would also keep them in the race for a title challenge. Liverpool is now 6 points behind Arsenal who lost points on Tuesday after drawing 2.2 with Southampton.  Liverpool sit in 4th place in the premier league table three points ahead of Tottenham who are in 5th position but Tottenham have a game in hand.
