Lambert close to Liverpool move

Southampton and England striker Rickie Lambert is set to be named a Liverpool player on Monday after undergoing a medical at the Merseyside club. Lambert is expected to be sold for around 4 million pound by Southampton after both clubs agreed terms.

Lambert aged 32 is a Liverpool supporter, the striker spent Five years at Liverpool youth academy before being released by the club aged 15.

Lambert who was on the bench for England’s final home game before the World Cup meet with Liverpool’s club doctor Zaf Iqbal to complete his medical on Saturday morning.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Saturday Lambert said “The medical went well. There are a lot of emotions, as you can imagine. I'll speak about it properly very shortly."
